HOT GIRL SUMMER = HOT DUMPLING SUMMER!! 🥟☀️ This class was EVERYTHING. Xiao Chen brought the energy, the AC brought the chill, and we brought the hunger. My dumplings started ugly but by the end I was basically a pro. The iced tea was so refreshing and the whole vibe was immaculate. RUN don't walk!! 💅🥟✨

Mid-June trip — already getting hot — and this was the best afternoon we spent in Shanghai. Master Wang was fantastic: fluent English, great sense of humor, and genuinely passionate about xiaolongbao. The venue is a traditional lane house with modern AC (thank goodness). The class structure is: welcome drink, cultural intro, dough prep, filling technique, pleating practice, steaming, and communal eating. Everything was clean and well-organized. They sanitize all equipment between sessions. The group size was about 10 people which felt right — big enough for good conversation, small enough for individual attention. We left with full bellies and a PDF recipe in our email. One suggestion: add a bathroom break reminder before the class starts — once your hands are floury it's tricky.

I've done cooking classes in Bangkok, Tokyo, and Barcelona — this one ranks right up there. Mr. Zhang was the perfect mix of professional and personable. The venue is a legit traditional Shanghai lane house (not a tourist trap version), with great AC that made the July heat bearable. The instruction was clear and progressive — they don't throw you into pleating right away. You start with dough feel, then filling portioning, then the wrapper technique, and finally the pleats. Each step builds on the last. The group was diverse: a couple from Argentina, two friends from Germany, and a solo traveler from Korea. The post-steaming feast was the highlight — everyone's dumplings on the table, lots of laughter, and Mr. Zhang sharing Shanghai food stories. Got a WeChat group going with the other travelers. Excellent value and a genuinely memorable experience.

Can I give 6 stars?? ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This was hands down the best thing we did in Shanghai. Anna was so funny and skilled — made the 2 hours fly by. The tea house is gorgeous and cool, the dumplings were divine, and we made friends with people from 3 continents. Summer heat who?? We were living our best dumpling life!! 🥟🌏💯

Brought my whole family (kids 9 and 13) to this class in late June and it was a huge hit. Lily was amazing with the kids — gave them simpler tasks like rolling the dough balls while adults tackled the pleating. The AC was strong, the cold tea kept coming, and the pace was just right for short attention spans. The kids were so proud of their lumpy little dumplings. We all agreed it was way more fun than another museum. The whole thing ran about 2 hours including eating time. Practical tip: there's a great boba tea place two doors down that the kids loved for a post-class treat. If you're traveling with family in summer, this is a no-brainer.
