Xiaolongbao Cooking Class with Instructor

Escaped the cold for a couple hours in this cozy tea house. The steaming baskets of xiaolongbao warmed us right up. Well worth booking.

Warm and cozy inside while it was chilly out — perfect winter activity. Anna was friendly and the hot tea hit the spot. Dumplings turned out great.

Did this with my partner on a chilly February weekend and it was the most romantic thing we did in Shanghai (without being cheesy). The tea house atmosphere is intimate and warm, with dark wood and soft lantern light. Lily set the tone perfectly — welcoming but not intrusive. We learned the dumpling technique side by side, and Lily took some great photos of us with our creations. The history lesson was genuinely interesting — who knew soup dumplings had such a rich backstory? The eating part was the best: just the two of us, hot tea, fresh xiaolongbao, and the quiet hum of the tea house. Way more memorable than an expensive dinner. If you're a couple traveling in winter, this is the move.

Came here on a solo trip in February and it was the coziest afternoon imaginable. The tea house was warm and inviting, with soft lighting and the constant gentle sound of steaming baskets. Master Wang made me feel immediately at ease — solo travelers sometimes get overlooked in group activities but not here. The class was intimate (7 people) and the instruction was excellent. We learned the full history and technique, and Master Wang spent extra time with anyone struggling. I sat next to a lovely couple from Canada and we ended up exploring the neighborhood together afterwards. The dumplings were incredible — there's something extra satisfying about eating hot soup dumplings you made yourself on a cold winter day. Left with the recipe, some tea, and a big smile. Best solo travel experience I've had.

Took my elderly parents (both in their 70s) to this class and David was incredibly accommodating. The tea house is ground-floor, heated, with comfortable seating. The pace was adjusted so my parents never felt rushed. David pulled up chairs for them during the standing portions and made sure they could see all the demonstrations clearly. The class itself was excellent — we all learned the proper technique for xiaolongbao, from wrapper to pleat. My dad, who's never cooked anything in his life, was so proud of his dumplings. The history portion was particularly interesting for them — they loved learning about the Qing dynasty origins of the dish. The hot tea and fresh dumplings were perfect on a cold day. We spent almost 3 hours there and my parents said it was the best activity of the entire trip. Highly recommend for multi-generational travel.
